Acts Prayer model
Deepen your relationship with God through intentional Scripture engagement and reflection.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
The ACTS prayer model is a simple way to guide your prayer time, helping you to deepen your relationship with God through Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Following this model provides a clear, practical way to talk to God.
The ACTS Prayer Model
The ACTS prayer model provides four different categories to think through as you pray. Using this framework allows you to pray though the things going on in your life, while also remembering the goodness of God. These four categories serve as prompts to think through core areas of life and faith.
Adoration
Adoration involves praising God for who He is. It’s about recognizing His greatness, majesty, and holiness. This step is an opportunity to focus on God’s attributes and express your love and reverence for Him.
- Example: “Lord, You are mighty and powerful. Your love is unfailing, and Your wisdom is beyond measure. I praise You for Your goodness and faithfulness.”
Confession
Confession is acknowledging your sins before God and asking for His forgiveness. This step allows you to come clean before God, admitting your shortcomings and seeking His grace and mercy.
- Example: “Father, I confess that I have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. I ask for Your forgiveness for my pride and selfishness. Cleanse me and help me to turn away from sin.”
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is expressing gratitude to God for His blessings and provision. This step helps you to recognize and appreciate all the good things God has done in your life and the world around you.
- Example: “Thank You, Lord, for Your many blessings. Thank You for my family, my health, and the opportunities You’ve given me. I am grateful for Your constant presence and provision.”
Supplication
Supplication is bringing your requests to God. This step includes praying for your needs, the needs of others, and seeking God’s guidance and intervention in various situations.
- Example: “Lord, I lift up my needs to You today. Please give me wisdom in my decisions, strength to face challenges, and peace in my heart. I also pray for my friend who is struggling with illness. Please bring healing and comfort.”
Why the ACTS Model?
The ACTS prayer model helps to create a balanced prayer life, ensuring that you are not only asking for things but also praising God, confessing your sins, and thanking Him for His blessings. This model encourages a comprehensive approach to prayer that can deepen your relationship with God and enhance your spiritual growth.
Practical Steps to Use the ACTS Model
