Growing
A growing faith is an active faith. As you continue to grow in your walk with Jesus, you’ll begin to understand the importance of putting your faith into action. The following practices will help you grow as you put your faith into action.
Worship-Filled Life
For those steadily growing in their faith, cultivating a worship-filled life becomes a natural progression. This involves not only engaging in corporate worship but also developing a personal and intimate connection with God through prayer. A worship-filled life is characterized by a heart that seeks after God’s presence, finding joy and fulfillment in communing with Him regularly.
Psalm 63:1-2 (NIV): “You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.”
Grow in the Word
As individuals progress in their faith journey, growing in the understanding and application of God’s Word becomes essential. This involves not only reading the Bible but also studying and meditating on its teachings to gain deeper insights and wisdom. A commitment to growing in the Word leads to spiritual maturity, clarity of purpose, and a firm foundation for navigating life’s challenges.
Joshua 1:8 (NIV): “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Connect in Community
Life is better together. God never wanted us to do life alone. The Christian life was meant to be lived in community. The early church did everything together. We are called to do life together so that we can all be strengthened. If you are doing life all by yourself, consider joining a community that will help you grow to become the person that God is calling you to be.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV): “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Live a Generous Life
As believers progress in their faith journey, living a generous life becomes an essential expression of their commitment to following Christ. Inspired by God’s boundless generosity towards humanity, living generously involves not only giving of one’s time and talents but also extending financial support to advance the work of God’s kingdom. A generous life reflects an acknowledgment of God’s ownership of all things and a willingness to steward resources faithfully for His purposes.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV): “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Serve Others
As individuals progress in their faith journey, serving others becomes a natural outpouring of their love for God and their commitment to following the example of Jesus Christ. Serving others involves actively seeking opportunities to meet the needs of those around us, demonstrating compassion, humility, and selflessness in our actions. Whether through acts of kindness, volunteering in ministries, or engaging in community service, serving others reflects the heart of God and contributes to building a more loving and compassionate world.
Galatians 5:13 (NIV): “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
Share the Gospel
As believers progress in their faith journey, sharing the Gospel becomes a natural overflow of their love for God and their desire to fulfill the Great Commission. Sharing the Gospel involves proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to others, inviting them into a relationship with God, and offering hope and salvation through faith in Christ. Whether through personal evangelism, outreach events, or mission trips, sharing the Gospel is a powerful expression of God’s love for humanity and His desire for all to come to know Him.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV): “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
